Overview

Located in the beautiful Muong Hoa valley and around a three-kilometer away from Sapa town, Cat Cat village is one of the oldest village of Black H’mong ethnic group. You can spend a half day to walk through beautiful landscape and breath the fresh air in the mountain area.

Itinerary

9:00 -9:30AM: A short drive to the gate of Cat Cat and Sin Chai village which is home of Black H’mong ethnic people and is located near the bottom of a deep valley at the foot of Fansipan Peak. Cat Cat is a small but bustling village situated at the foot of Fansipan Mountain. Here you will see traditional H’mong homes at their best, and you will be able to meet a H’mong family to learn more about their way of life. The village is also the perfect place to see traditional clothing being made, hemp being dyed and women weaving.

From Cat Cat we will follow the Muong Hoa Valley for 3km through rice terraces and small dwellings to Sin Chai. This village is a little off the usual trekking route and less visited, but offers the opportunity to see traditional wooden homes built using the indigenous Pumu tree.

Our local guide will show you the daily life activities of the locals, trek down to the valley bottom to the waterfall where the French built a Hydraulic Power Station; stop for photo with bridge and waterfall then you will walk uphill for bus to pick up to get back to Sapa in the afternoon.

Trekking distance is about 2.5 kms and it lasts for 2 hours. Transport will be waiting in Sin Chai to take you back to Sapa.

12:00 PM: Return to Sapa Town and check into your hotel. Enjoy the lunch with local Vietnamese dishes. After lunch you will be free to explore the magnificent town of Sapa. Be sure to visit the only Catholic Church in the region, built during the French Era. Be back to Sapa Hotel.

Thing to bring

  • Warm clothes, scarf, hat, cap because the weather in Sapa is pretty unpredictable. It is normally cold in September, October, November, December, January, February and March
  • Due to altitude of Sapa, it is sometimes foggy in December, January, February and March.
  • Trekking shoes, sun glasses, sun cream, insect repellent are also necessary. You should take cash with you in Vietnam Dong because banking system in Sapa sometimes doesn’t function well. US Dollar, Euro, Australia Dollar are accepted in Sapa.
  • You should take medicine with you in case you get sick in Sapa.
